Thought it was a Drought

On February 2,2020 the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers played in Super Bowl LIV in Miami, Florida. The first quarter of the Super Bowl both teams came out with a strong start however, the 49ers were looking a lot more prepared than the Kansas City Chiefs. The Kanas City Chiefs had been in a 50 year drought since their last Super Bowl appearance so the teams knew what was at stake coming into this game. Patrick Mahomes with his second year of starting for the Chiefs made an unbelievable fourth quarter come back to end the long drought of a Super Bowl victory.

Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes for Super Bowl LIV

Patrick Mahomes helped lead the Chiefs’ comeback from a 20-10 deficit late in the fourth quarter. The touchdown pass thrown to tight end Travis Kelce started a major spark for the Chiefs and made the score 20-17. The Kanas City Chiefs defense held up as well by causing two major turnovers to seal the game for the Chiefs and to end the 50 year drought of victory.

The Niners had a strong four quarters but in the beginning of the fourth quarter they started letting up feeling as if they had the game sealed for them and knew that they won the super bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs were not going to allow the 49ers to win this game once the fourth quarter started the Kansas City magic started to begin. The Chiefs’ defensive back Tyrann Mathieu had some strong words on the sideline to say to the defense to help motivate them to play to the potential that Mathieu knows that they can play up to.

Patrick Mahomes seized control of the game with six minutes left in the fourth quarter. Mahomes threw a 5 yard touchdown pass caught by running back Damian Willams to make the score 24-20 with the two minute warning just approaching. The Chiefs received the ball back and running back Damian Willams ran for a 38-yard touchdown and delivered the dagger to make the score 31-20 and seal the Kanas City Chiefs’ win for Super Bowl LIV. Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw a pass to their star wide receiver Debo Samuels hoping he would make a play but defensive back Bashuad Breeland intercepted the ball which secured the game for the Chiefs’.

To cap of the night for the victory for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes finished the night with twenty-six completes with an attempt of forty-two passes. He racked up at total of 286 passing yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and one touchdown run. This could be start of a dynasty for the Kansas City Chiefs since they have a combination of speed and talent all over the field.
