Fist of Fury

December 1, 2018, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Furry met for the first time at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The undefeated defending WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, faced an undefeated challenger and former lineal heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. The fight ended in a controversial split draw with the judges’ scorecard for Wilder was 115-111 and 114-112 for Fury.. Wilder and Fury set up another fight to break the draw and this match was set for this weekend on February 22, 2022 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The weekend leading up to the fight, Deontay Wilder was talking a very big game saying, ” I will knock out Tyson in the second round.” The underdog Fury demolished Wilder. The match lasted six rounds. Wilder recorded two knockdowns through the six rounds and eventually destroyed the spirit of the now-former heavyweight champion. Tyson Fury busted the eardrums of Deontay Wilder. During the sixth round, Tyson Fury licked the blood from Wilder’s body.

Tyson Fury’s approach coming into this match was to apply more pressure towards Wilder’s every punch. Fury’s landing on Wilder was taking a significant toll on Wilder’s body. Tyson jabbed less than normal. His different approach was more hooks and right-hand swings while pining Wilder in a corner. Wilder’s corner decided to throw in the towel because Wilder had a busted eardrum, could barely stand, and possibly have had a concussion. It was the best option for Wilder and his team.

During his heavyweight championship celebration, Fury said, ” The king has returned,” while standing in the ring and accepting the belt. Fury came in strong the moment the bell rang while recording his first knockdown late in the second round. This gave him more confidence as the rounds continued. ” I hit him with a clean right hook and dropped him and he got right back up and kept battling. He will be back. He is a champion,” Fury said. Wilder said, ” It defiantly wasn’t my night.” “My coaches threw in the towel. I was ready for more rounds. I am a warrior; this is what I do.”
