This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.
At the start of this semester, I started my sports blog to provide entertainment, information, and news worldwide by sharing on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I’ve enjoyed uploading daily content every week. I have received excellent reviews about my work while also catching the attention of people in my field.
The one thing I want to improve on my blog site is uploading more content weekly. I originally planned to post twice a day, but I was unsuccessful in posting more than one piece a week due to a high-level workload. I promoted my content well. February was the most popular week. I had 172 viewers visit my blog post with an average view time of 1.48 views per post minutes. My best experience in writing the blog was reviewing my stats and seeing how many people were looking at my blog post. The number of views amazed me because I couldn’t believe any would view it.
Creating this blog helped me to start getting a feel for being a sports journalist. This process of writing my first blog also showed me that I have a lot of work I still need to do if I want to be able to reach my goal. This blog is something useful I can use for my portfolio when it is time for me to apply for ESPN or the NFL. My most popular post was my “Hi Welcome to My Blog” piece. The post gathered the attention of 172 viewers, and that was my most favorite one, too, because it gave an insight into who I am as a person and why I started the blog.
Overall my blog has helped me realize my potential. Hard work and perseverance is the key to my success. I know I have to do the research to create content that will resonate with my audience. I look forward to reviewing my blog in the future to see how it has helped me to reach my goal of working for ESPN or the NFL.

As the pandemic is slowly starting to come to an end and businesses are starting to open back up, the NFL season may be back in a few months. As part of the strategy, the NFL contemplated whether they should move forward with the upcoming season or put the players’ safety first.
The NFL decided they would start the 2020 season on time in September with a full 16 games season. They anticipate the schedule will be released early May and will include the pre-season schedule as well. As part of their strategy, the NFL has outlined a plan that will allow ticket refunds for fans in the event the coronavirus pandemic resurfaces. If the pandemic resurfaces, it will impact the NFL negatively and the inability of the fans to attend the games. As part of the preparation of the refund plan, the NFL established a “uniform tickets “refund policy with all of the NFL teams in the organization.

The leagues are still evaluating when players can come back to the training facilities, but for right now, they will remain closed until an expert can tell when it is safe to return to the facilities. The NFL and the NFLPA still mandate that every player stay home until further notice. In the event, if it is still not safe to return to the practice facilities, teams are prepared to start off-season workouts and mini-camps virtually.
The NFL Players Association and medical experts have suggested delaying the 2020 season until mid-October and possibly skipping bye weeks for teams. Medical experts strongly recommend that the NFL should not allow players to convene in central areas at the start of the new season.
I know I am ready for some football, but I am also concerned about the safety of everyone. Do you think the NFL should move forward with its plans?
Today we are going to explore the theory on if the Bulls would have won as many championships without Dennis Rodman on the roster. Let’s begin with the context of the episodes three and four for the Micheal Jordan documentary aired this past Sunday.
In the beginning, they interviewed the five-time champion Dennis Rodman before the start of the mini-series. Dennis Rodman said, “I don’t think the Bulls would have won a championship without me.” In my personal opinion, I believed the Bulls would have won 5 consecutive championships without Rodman playing.

Rodman led the league in rebounds four consecutive seasons before joining the Bulls in the 1995-96 season. Before Rodman joined the team in 1994, the Bulls power forward, Larry Krystkowiak, averaged a total of 3.1 rebounds that year. The Bulls center, Bill Perdue, averaged 6.7 rebounds that year for a combined total of 9.8 total rebounds. Rodman alone that year averaged a total of 16.8 rebounds in the 1994-95 season while also carrying the rebounding title in his next three years.
The year Rodman joined the Bulls in the 1995-1996 season, he averaged a total of 14.9 rebounds that year. Rodman presented himself as the backbone of the team. He completed the Bulls even it was Micheal and Scottie show. However, you can not deny that Rodman was arguably the most crucial defender when the Bulls matched up against the more elite teams. There is still no telling if the Bulls would have won without Rodman or not. Still, it is inevitable that Rodman is due his credit and deserves recognition for being one of the enforcers on the defensive end and the defensive and offensive boards.
Do you think Rodman played a more significant role while playing with the Bulls than he received credit? Leave your comments below.
Last night on April 19, the Micheal Jordan documentary “The Last Dance” aired on ESPN at 8 pm. The documentary mini-series showcased never before seen footage of mainly the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls. It further highlighted the dilemma the team had for their last year with their head coach Phil Jackson and the road to winning their six NBA championships. So, today I am going to break down the first episode out of the ten episodes that will air every Sunday.

The episode included footage detailing the 1980’s Bulls and how the people in the city of Chicago had little interest in the Bulls. The disinterest was because of the many poor seasons the Bulls had in the past. The next scene of the documentary shows Micheal Jordan going to North Carolina and showing the determination of Jordan wanting to be the best. He had a talk with his UNC basketball coach and he told him that he was going to be the best player to ever play at North Carolina. Coach Williams said to young Micheal, “Well, you’ve got to work harder than you did in High School.” “I worked as hard as everybody else,” Jordan replied and also said, “I’m going to show you that nobody will ever work as hard as I will.”

Micheal Jordan would stay longer after practice because he was determined to show his coach that he was going to be the best to ever come to North Carolina. After every practice, Micheal would challenge his teammate James Worthy to a one on one to see how he progressed. The film crew interviewed James Worthy, James shared, “we would finish practice, I would be drenched in sweat and Micheal would always want to play one on one. I was better than Micheal Jordan for about three weeks.”
On March 29, 1982, the UNC Tar Heels’ faced off against Georgetown for the NCAA March Madness championship. The freshman Micheal Jordan has established himself as a threat for the Tar Heels’ and Georgetown knew it. The championship came down to the last couple of seconds in the second half. The score was 62-63 with UNC in the lead. The coach for the Tar Heels’ drew up a play that brought the defense one direction leaving Michael Jordan open for a clear shot. The play came out exactly how the coach expected it to come out with Micheal Jordan wide open for an open shot. Once he made the shot, Micheal Jordan said to the film crew for the documentary, “that’s when my confidence started to come.”
Micheal Jordan wanted to stay at UNC for his last season, but his coach and family convinced him to declare for the draft. In 1984 with the third pick, the Chicago Bulls selected Micheal Jordan out of UNC.
The world of sports is at a standstill due to the coronavirus. However, this is not stopping the NFL from keeping the world’s attention with the Free Agency 2020. There have been a lot of interesting trades and unexpected, yet amazing deals this week.

To start, ex-Texans wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, was traded for Cardinals running back David Johnson. The Houston Texans received David Johnson, the 2020 second-round pick, and a 2021 fourth-round pick. Arizona received DeAndre Hopkins, and a 2020 fourth-round pick. This was a very unexpected trade from Bill O’Brien. He traded the star Wide-Receiver to the Cardinals. In my opinion, this is essentially a bad trade by the Texans. However, this is a win for the Cardinals. Johnson missed the 2017 seasons with a wrist injury and had been a replacement Running-Back for the Cardinals, but once Kenyan Drake was upgraded to the starting Running-Back position after Johnson was unable to play, the Cardinals team started looking slightly better. By giving Kyler Murray another offensive weapon along with Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk, the Cardinals are well-positioned.
The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to make a significant impact with their defense this year with hopes of winning the 2021 Super Bowl. The Detroit Lions traded Darius Slay to the Eagles for two draft picks. Slay was the ultimate winner when the Eagles signed him to a $16.7 million contract, making him one of the most highest-paid Cornerbacks. While the Eagles gained a Defensive-back, they also lost one. Malcolm Jenkins signed a four year $32 million deal with the Saints guaranteeing him 16.5 million.
The biggest highlight of the week and most shocking was the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers deal. Tom Brady is leaving Belichick and the organization to become a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. Brady finalized an agreement with the Bucs by signing roughly $30 million per year. With the signing of Tom Brady, other players are showing interest in wanting to play alongside Brady. It is bitter-sweet, but the Patriots fans thanked Brady for all the years and his accomplishments he achieved while with the Patriots.
If you see a man on ESPN from Monday to Saturday wearing a Lebron James jersey after a Lakers win with a goat head on then, it is probably Shannon Sharpe. Shannon Sharpe is one of my favorite sports announcers to watch every day. There is not a day that I do not watch “ Undisputed” with Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe. What I like most about how Shannon Sharpe presents new sports news is the realness he brings to the show and also his personality, which makes the show so great and entertaining to watch. My favorite Undisputed episode was when the Cowboys had another devastating loss, and Shannon Sharpe was clowning Skip on his cowboys and how they should pack their bags up and prepare for next season.

Shannon Sharpe is a former NFL player. He was a tight end for twelve years for the Denver Broncos and two for the Baltimore Ravens. He won three Super Bowls, and he also finished his career as the NFL’s all-time leader in receptions with 815 receptions, 10,060 receiving yards, and sixty-two receiving touchdowns by a tight end. Shannon Sharpe was the first tight end to amass over 10,000 receiving yards. He has been named the First Team of the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1990s.

Sharpe was once a commentator for CBS Sports pregame show The NFL Today, an also including the Sprint Halftime Report, and he also did the Subway Postgame Show. He also hosts an NFL radio station called “ Sirius NFL Radio.” Shannon also is a social media staple. You can typically find him going viral for his on-air antics and sports commentary. He has many memes that you will see on twitter. He also appeared once on an American Dad episode, which he was portraying himself. In my opinion, Shannon Sharpe is one of the most iconic sports announcers ever!
December 1, 2018, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Furry met for the first time at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The undefeated defending WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, faced an undefeated challenger and former lineal heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. The fight ended in a controversial split draw with the judges’ scorecard for Wilder was 115-111 and 114-112 for Fury.. Wilder and Fury set up another fight to break the draw and this match was set for this weekend on February 22, 2022 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The weekend leading up to the fight, Deontay Wilder was talking a very big game saying, ” I will knock out Tyson in the second round.” The underdog Fury demolished Wilder. The match lasted six rounds. Wilder recorded two knockdowns through the six rounds and eventually destroyed the spirit of the now-former heavyweight champion. Tyson Fury busted the eardrums of Deontay Wilder. During the sixth round, Tyson Fury licked the blood from Wilder’s body.

Tyson Fury’s approach coming into this match was to apply more pressure towards Wilder’s every punch. Fury’s landing on Wilder was taking a significant toll on Wilder’s body. Tyson jabbed less than normal. His different approach was more hooks and right-hand swings while pining Wilder in a corner. Wilder’s corner decided to throw in the towel because Wilder had a busted eardrum, could barely stand, and possibly have had a concussion. It was the best option for Wilder and his team.
During his heavyweight championship celebration, Fury said, ” The king has returned,” while standing in the ring and accepting the belt. Fury came in strong the moment the bell rang while recording his first knockdown late in the second round. This gave him more confidence as the rounds continued. ” I hit him with a clean right hook and dropped him and he got right back up and kept battling. He will be back. He is a champion,” Fury said. Wilder said, ” It defiantly wasn’t my night.” “My coaches threw in the towel. I was ready for more rounds. I am a warrior; this is what I do.”

On February 2,2020 the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers played in Super Bowl LIV in Miami, Florida. The first quarter of the Super Bowl both teams came out with a strong start however, the 49ers were looking a lot more prepared than the Kansas City Chiefs. The Kanas City Chiefs had been in a 50 year drought since their last Super Bowl appearance so the teams knew what was at stake coming into this game. Patrick Mahomes with his second year of starting for the Chiefs made an unbelievable fourth quarter come back to end the long drought of a Super Bowl victory.

Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes for Super Bowl LIV
Patrick Mahomes helped lead the Chiefs’ comeback from a 20-10 deficit late in the fourth quarter. The touchdown pass thrown to tight end Travis Kelce started a major spark for the Chiefs and made the score 20-17. The Kanas City Chiefs defense held up as well by causing two major turnovers to seal the game for the Chiefs and to end the 50 year drought of victory.
The Niners had a strong four quarters but in the beginning of the fourth quarter they started letting up feeling as if they had the game sealed for them and knew that they won the super bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs were not going to allow the 49ers to win this game once the fourth quarter started the Kansas City magic started to begin. The Chiefs’ defensive back Tyrann Mathieu had some strong words on the sideline to say to the defense to help motivate them to play to the potential that Mathieu knows that they can play up to.

Patrick Mahomes seized control of the game with six minutes left in the fourth quarter. Mahomes threw a 5 yard touchdown pass caught by running back Damian Willams to make the score 24-20 with the two minute warning just approaching. The Chiefs received the ball back and running back Damian Willams ran for a 38-yard touchdown and delivered the dagger to make the score 31-20 and seal the Kanas City Chiefs’ win for Super Bowl LIV. Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw a pass to their star wide receiver Debo Samuels hoping he would make a play but defensive back Bashuad Breeland intercepted the ball which secured the game for the Chiefs’.
To cap of the night for the victory for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes finished the night with twenty-six completes with an attempt of forty-two passes. He racked up at total of 286 passing yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and one touchdown run. This could be start of a dynasty for the Kansas City Chiefs since they have a combination of speed and talent all over the field.
